I have listened carefully to the concerns raised by the Ulnes Walton Action Group (UWAG) throughout the planning process. Many of the issues they highlighted were significant and deserved serious consideration, which is why I am disappointed that their Judicial Review appeal was unsuccessful. Now that all legal avenues have been exhausted, the process must move forward. However, the key concerns, particularly regarding highway access, safety, and security, still remain.
I will continue working with Chorley Council , as I have for several years, though now in a different capacity as the MP for South Ribble, rather than as Leader of South Ribble Borough Council . I will also keep pressing the Ministry of Justice to ensure that the final proposals are appropriate, especially for the residents of Ulnes Walton and the surrounding areas.
Before my upcoming meeting with Ministers, I plan to meet with the local campaign group as soon as possible, to discuss next steps and ensure that local people's voices continue to be heard.
