We’re all still coming to terms with the news that a new prison will be built alongside Garth and Wymott, but it matters to me that we push for the right infrastructure to support local people.

I have listened carefully to the concerns raised by the Ulnes Walton Action Group (UWAG) throughout the planning process. Many of the issues they highlighted were significant and deserved serious consideration, which is why I am disappointed that their Judicial Review appeal was unsuccessful.

I have long voiced my genuine concerns about the safety and infrastructure of the area, and I stand firmly by those views.
