The floods in Croston over the New Year were utterly devastating for so many in the village. Sadly, these events are not new, with recurring floods leaving our community frustrated and exhausted. The strength of feeling was palpable at the meeting held on Friday at Croston Old School, where a significant number of residents shared their experiences and concerns. It is evident that people have had enough.
What makes this situation even more exasperating is that solutions are already in place but are not being utilised effectively. This is a sentiment I know many of you share, and it must change.
Today, I will be writing to Emma Hardy MP, the UK’s Floods Minister, to urgently highlight Croston’s plight. I will press for the recalibration and improved utilisation of existing infrastructure, underpinned by the most up-to-date data, to prevent further devastation to our village.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the meeting to share your stories, concerns, and ideas. Your input is invaluable as I continue to advocate for the changes our community so desperately needs. Please know that I remain committed to fighting for Croston to receive the support it deserves. Together, we will work to protect our village and prevent future flooding.
