I had the privilege of paying my respects at the civic remembrance parade in Leyland during the morning, followed by another in Croston in the afternoon. Meanwhile, my team showed their support across South Ribble by attending events in Penwortham, Lostock Hall, Heskin, Charnock Richard, and Eccleston.
South Ribble is home to 3,652 veterans, making up 5% of our community. Today, I honour them, remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, those currently serving, and all who are impacted by war worldwide.
I extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to these remembrance events across our towns and parishes. Together, we honoured those who gave their lives for our freedom, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered and respected.
These commemorations would not have been possible without the dedication and tireless efforts of the many volunteers who selflessly give their time, often for weeks or months in advance. Your hard work and commitment are deeply appreciated, and the entire community owes you our gratitude.
I am also deeply moved by the hundreds of community members who came out to pay their respects. Your presence was a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
South Ribble will never forget. Together, we carry forward their legacy with respect, remembrance, and gratitude.
