South Ribble and Chorley Hospital is among the first 200 hospitals to go solar, thanks to the government’s new state-owned energy company, GB Energy.
This landmark project will help vital public services save millions on energy bills—freeing up more funds for frontline care. Hospitals that adopt solar energy can reduce their energy costs by up to 50% over the system’s lifetime. This means more resources can be allocated to improving patient care and hospital facilities.
And it’s not just hospitals—schools are benefiting too. By switching to solar power, schools can save significantly on energy costs, allowing more investment where it’s really needed: in our nurses, teachers, and frontline public services workers. Schools that have adopted solar energy have reported savings of up to 90% on their electricity bills.
This initiative is expected to create thousands of jobs in the renewable energy sector, boosting the local economy and contributing to a greener future.
This is a big step towards cheaper, greener energy for all!
