I’m really happy to announce long-overdue improvements to the A582. Maya Ellis MP and I know this is something residents across our constituencies have waited far too long for, and we’ve both raised it with the Secretary of State for Transport, Heidi Alexander MP, on numerous occasions. So I welcome the Reconfiguring key junctions along the road supported by technology improvements and active travel and bus improvements.
Having driven that route regularly myself, and having heard countless concerns during my time as Leader of the Council, I understand just how frustrating the congestion can be.
What’s more, as someone who now commutes by train more often, I’ve seen first-hand the delays hardworking people face just trying to get to and from work. So, improvements on the West Coast Main Line (North) are also very welcome.
This is a really positive step forward. Transport is the backbone of our economy, and it’s about time communities like ours got the investment we deserve.
