It was a real privilege to attend and take part in the Academy at Worden’s annual Presentation Evening, an event that showcases the talent, dedication, and spirit of the school community.
I had the honour of presenting certificates, medals, and trophies to students who have excelled across a wide range of subjects and activities. From academic achievements to sporting triumphs and contributions to school life, the evening was a celebration of hard work..
As a guest speaker, I was invited to share my personal journey, from leaving school to eventually becoming a Member of Parliament. I spoke about the challenges I faced, the lessons I learned, and the importance of resilience and determination. My message to the students was simple: with hard work and belief in yourself, anything is possible… even becoming the next MP!
But the spotlight rightly belonged to the students. Their achievements are a testament to their commitment and the support of their families, teachers, and peers. It was inspiring to see so many young people being recognised for their efforts and encouraged to keep striving for excellence.
Congratulations to all the award winners, and a heartfelt well done to every student who gives their best each day.
