I had the pleasure of meeting the Student Council at St. Mary's in Leyland to present on the Government, Parliament, and the life of an MP. It was a joy to engage with such bright and thoughtful young minds.
During our Q&A session, the students posed a range of insightful—and at times challenging—questions. We discussed global figures like Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy, as well as critical topics such as the NHS, the environment, and food security. The students also raised important issues about school life, including food choices and the expense of school uniforms.
I was pleased to share information about new policies, including the cap on branded school items. This policy limits the number of branded items to just three, helping to reduce the financial burden on parents who previously had to purchase numerous specific items like ties, bags, and sports kits.
Thank you to the School Council for inviting me and for your voluntary efforts to improve your school for both current and future students. From what I saw, your school is fantastic, and you are only making it better. I was particularly impressed by your environmental initiatives and look forward to sharing more about them in the coming days.
