Recognition of Community Champion Jean at Tesco Extra Leyland

Updated: Mar 13

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Jean, who has been a dedicated team member at Tesco Extra in Leyland since its opening in 2002. As a Community Champion, Jean has tirelessly worked to support our local community. Today, her incredible dedication is being recognized with a prestigious British Empire Medal, to be presented at Lancaster Castle by the King's Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, Mrs. Amanda Parker JP.

Tesco Extra has been instrumental in supporting the community in Leyland. Over the past year, they have contributed £66,830 to 30 projects, provided 8,299 meals from customer food donations, and delivered £22,550 worth of meals through their Community Food Connection.

To learn more about Tesco’s community initiatives, visit the store and speak with the team, or explore their efforts by visiting Tesco Stronger Starts and Supporting Our Communities with Surplus Food on the Tesco Plc website.

Congratulations and best wishes to Jean on receiving her award today. You truly deserve it!
