Lancashire Mind Visit
Mental health support can make an enormous difference to someone’s life. Particularly for a young person who might be struggling and doesn’t know where to turn.
That’s why organisations like Lancashire Mind are so important. Having somewhere in your community where you can talk, be listened to and get support early can help prevent problems from becoming a crisis.
I visited Lancashire Mind’s new office in Leyland this morning and had a really valuable conversation with Chief Executive David Dunwell about the work they are doing across Lancashire and the challenges facing mental health services.
We know that demand for mental health support, particularly among children and young people, remains incredibly high. That’s why I’m pleased the Government is putting a much greater emphasis on early intervention, including expanding mental health support in schools and investing in more community-based services.
But government and the NHS cannot do this alone. Local organisations like Lancashire Mind have a hugely important role to play, reaching people in our communities and providing support in a way that can feel much more accessible.
I’m really pleased they’ve chosen Leyland for their new home, and I look forward to continuing to work with David and the team to make sure people across South Ribble can get the support they need, when they need it.
