Increased Defence Funding

We inherited a defence system stretched to its limits, underfunded for years, depleted. It is now under immense strain, facing the realities of war in Ukraine, instability in the Middle East, and growing uncertainty around the United States.

As a veteran, it is deeply concerning to see our armed forces under such pressure. That’s why I welcome the Government’s commitment to increased defence funding. It is needed now more than ever.

Rebuilding our military strength will not happen overnight. It will take sustained investment, clear priorities, and long-term commitment. But we must also be honest about how we got here. Years of austerity hollowed out our capabilities, and we must never allow that to happen again.
