Happy 100th Birthday to Longton Primary School!

What a joy it was to celebrate this incredible milestone with the young people and staff yesterday — and what a celebration it turned out to be!

The pupils put on a truly fantastic performance:

  • Year 3 wowed everyone with The Longton Rap

  • Year 4 beautifully sang When I Grow Up from Matilda the Musical

  • Year 5 lit up the room with a dance to Firework by Katy Perry

  • Reception class stole hearts as they confidently acted out nursery rhymes like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Incy Wincy Spider, and more.

  • And of course… we all joined in for a big, heartfelt Happy Birthday!

It was also a double celebration as we marked Vinny’s 5th Birthday too — a special moment in a special place.

I was really impressed by the hospitality. The young people were brilliant hosts, making sure we were looked after, offering a cup of tea, and proudly showing Paul around the school.

I had a fantastic day. The atmosphere was warm, joyful, and a real credit to the governors, to Headteacher Julie Brown, and most of all to the amazing young people who make Longton Primary the wonderful school it is.
